Physician Resiliency and Well-Being

Course: Physician Resiliency and Well-Being

Audience: Physicians, Physicians-in-Training
Method: Monthly in-person group meetings with monthly individual phone calls
Length: 6-months

Physician burnout and related symptoms have been reported to exceed 50% in studies of both practicing physicians and physicians-in-training and has been associated with adverse effects on patients, the healthcare workforce, medical costs, and the health of the individual physician. This six-month face-to-face course will use a combination of group and one-on-one meetings to educate and provide strategies that physicians can use to achieve a greater sense of well-being and resiliency at work and in personal life. 

Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Consider and explain the interconnectedness of all things
  2. Discern personal life purpose and create a purpose statement
  3. Identify the most important factor contributing to well-being
  4. Articulate specific steps that can improve well-being
