Design Thinking for Educators

Course: Design Thinking for Educators

Audience: Teachers
Method: Online hybrid
Duration: 4 weeks

Unleash your creative mindset and take your classes to the next level by learning the tools and methods professional designers employ to solve complex challenges.

Design thinking is a people-centered approach to problem solving that uses iteration and refinement. The process was made popular by IDEO, an international design and consulting firm, which used the method to create the first usable mouse. Today, critical thinkers in a variety of fields and industries have adopted the method. This course will give teachers new, innovative, creative design thinking approaches that can be rapidly employed in the classroom.

The hybrid course includes three weeks of online instruction and a two-day, on-campus capstone session. Attendees will explore the design thinking process with engaging videos, readings and collaborative activities. The online course, along with the on-campus capstone, will let you learn, practice and explore how design thinking works. You’ll be exposed to techniques and resources to help you develop ideas and ways to effectively integrate design thinking into your curriculum. Participants will get a design thinking tool kit, quick reference guide, sample lesson plans and more.
