The Global Engagement Office serves our neighbors and nations through diverse programming that emphasizes cultural immersion, reflection and experiential learning. Likewise, through these efforts, the Creighton community benefits from exposure to cultures and ideas.
Partnering with Creighton offers organizations the opportunity to draw on the talents, time and knowledge of Creighton students and faculty. We partner with agencies and institutions throughout the world to provide many transformative opportunities, including:
- International students at Creighton represent more than 40 countries
- Faculty, staff and students have been traveling to the Dominican Republic through the Institute of Latin American Concern, partnering with over 160 local marginalized communities to build resilience through health care, education and other services
- Nearly $2.5 million in support has been awarded to innovative projects with a global focus through the Creighton Global Initiative
American Airlines has partnered with the Creighton Global Initiative (CGI) to enable Creighton scholars (faculty, staff or students) to conduct research or present their work at national or international meetings. American Airlines will invest one million AAdvantage® miles to support scholars’ travel throughout the world.
The AAdvantage® Global Scholars Travel Grant program will give priority to the presentation of outcomes of funded CGI projects as well as other work that supports global learning and global awareness.
Creighton is also part of a growing number of international networks that offer unique opportunities for engagement with the world. Catholic Relief Services (CRS), a faith-based international non-governmental organization with a presence in more than 100 countries, has chosen the University as a “CRS Global Campus.” The benefits of becoming a CRS Global Campus include leadership training, advocacy training, professional development, participation in academic symposia and joint speaking engagements on campus.

Encuentro Dominicano is Creighton’s premier academic service-learning program in the Dominican Republic. While in this immersive program, students spend time in rural communities, living in solidarity with host families and working side by side with their community on a life-changing development project, such as building an aqueduct, latrines and a greenhouse. Students also work alongside Dominican agencies at local service sites; partner sites have included organizations that work with children, teenagers and elder adults living in challenging circumstances.
